About Me

Hello there! I’m Les, and if you’ve stumbled upon this page, you’re probably wondering who the grandpa behind WorkOutWithGrandpa is. Well, that’s me! I’m over 60 now, but let me tell you, age is just a number when it comes to staying fit and fabulous. My life’s been quite the adventure, and health and exercise have always been my loyal companions.

So, what’s the story of WorkOutWithGrandpa?

It’s not just a brand; it’s a beacon for anyone looking to make fitness a lifelong ally.

My mindset on health was forged in the fires of the US Marines. Twenty years of service taught me that strength and fitness aren’t just goals but the pillars of a fulfilling life. And trust me, that discipline doesn’t retire when you do.

Experience is the torch we carry through life, and mine has taught me a lot about the resilience and adaptability of the human body. Sometimes, I look back and marvel at how my body has been my ally through each chapter of life, adjusting and overcoming challenges, whether during a drill at dawn in my Marine days or a brisk walk in the park now.

But enough about the past; the here and now count. I’m no superhero, and I don’t expect you to be one, either. We’re average folks, and that’s our strength. It’s about finding joy in movement and celebrating every small victory on the road to wellness. Think of WorkOutWithGrandpa as a hand extending to you, ready to tackle this next chapter together.

My Fitness Journey: Triumphs and Trials

Back in my days with the US Marines, fitness wasn’t just a routine but a survival skill. I will tell you about the highs and lows of my fitness path and the valuable lessons each milestone brought me. From becoming a Marine to now being a grandpa, every phase taught me something about pushing limits and facing challenges head-on.

You’re going to find out about the time when age started to play tricks on my body in my 40s and 50s. I had some rugged hills to climb, and boy, did they remind me that staying fit isn’t just for the young guns. It’s crucial as we age, perhaps even more so. I’ve had to adapt, find new ways to keep my health in check, and embrace the changes that come with time.

It’s not all been smooth sailing, but the struggles make the triumphs even sweeter. For example, I discovered how to turn physical setbacks into comebacks or find that perfect balance, so I’m challenging myself without going overboard. Yes, these knees and shoulders have tales to tell, but they’re still writing new chapters with every workout.

Sharing these experiences isn’t just about looking back; it’s also about looking forward. I’ve collected a toolbox of strategies that work for me, and I believe they have the power to inspire and guide you, too. This journey of mine isn’t just personal—it’s a roadmap for any of you who’ve faced hurdles and could use a fellow traveler’s insight to push on.

Join the Movement: Fitness for Every Age

I’ve shared a snippet of my story with you, highlighting the highs and the hurdles. Now, I’m looking to pass on the baton. If you think it’s too late to start or you’re unsure if you can make a change at your age, I’m here to tell you it’s possible.

In creating WorkOutWithGrandpa, I aim to break down the barriers that keep us from living our healthiest lives. This isn’t just a fitness program; it’s a movement towards inclusive health and wellness for everyone, especially as we age.

Don’t let the number of candles on your birthday cake define your capabilities. Rather, join me in redefining what fitness means for our generation. It’s about feeling good, staying strong, and enjoying our lives to the fullest.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re looking for ways to mix up your existing routine, I am committed to guiding you, motivating you, and celebrating every victory with you. That’s the spirit of WorkOutWithGrandpa.

Choose something that resonates with you, and take that first step. Together, we’ll turn those steps into strides and create a ripple effect of positive change.

Remember, we’re in this together – so let’s make the most of every day, one rep at a time.

I enjoyed reading this post. I like the positive vibes it radiates. I agree that as we get older, our bodies begin to respond differently and we may need to relearn what works and what doesn’t. However, your personal experience and story confirms that with determination and the right guidance, obstacles to living life to the fullest with vigor can be surmounted. I like that you intend to help your readers break down barriers so that they can move towards inclusive health and wellness which is beyond just physical fitness.

By the way, you are as close to a superhero as regular folks can get. Thank you for your service and thank you for this exciting post.

Well, thank you kind sir! One of the things that got me started with this idea is I see these people on social media say to join them as they exercise and they start off by saying and doing 20x pullups. Hahahaha. The average guy or gal might not even be able to do one, so how does that help them.

Plus, by my doing these exercises it not only helps them but it also helps me.

As a fellow grandpa (this one is in his early seventies) I completely agree with you about keeping fit. I’ve had a series of operations on my back and doing serious exercise is out of the question. But that does not stop me from walking every day, from getting out and about meeting people and mixing with the local community. Physical fitness is important but that leads to mental wellness too. I see too many people who are quick to complain about everyone and everything, but these are the ones who normally sit in front of daytime television and would never think of getting off their rear ends to help themselves. I’ll keep moving as long as I can, and I’m certain the same goes for you…

Yes, sir, I couldn’t agree more. And, if I can motivate any couch potatoes from getting off the couch and start moving around I will be happy that I’ve helped someone else live a better life.

It’s so moving to have someone tell you that because of something you did or are doing you’ve helped them make a change in their lives.

I cannot wait to start live streaming my workouts again.

      Cheers! To us grandpas!!!
